Main Objectives of the Asia Design Survey
As the Asia regional report of the World Design Survey, the pilot project will collate data relevant to the design status for each major countries and cities of the Asia region in an international context. The collected data will be researched and compared to develop common indicators that will facilitate comprehensive understanding of the design status in Asia region.
In addition, research partnership will be established to conduct the research activities for the pilot project.
The pilot project will analyze and verify whether the common indicator model for measuring the magnitude, impact, and characteristics of the unique design industries, education, culture, and Guidelines for each region is appropriate and logical. Furthermore, the design statistical data and design policy related information will be compared among nations (or cities) to identify the differences.
As a part of the pilot project, an online website (www.asiadesignsurvey.org) for research activities of the Asia Design Survey will be developed to increase the efficiency of the research efforts. The website will be utilized for communication among partners, collation of design survey research data for each region, comprehensive design information comparison and analysis, and monitoring.

Limitations
Even though there is significant shortage of time when considering the volume of research activities that are required, we propose that the pilot project will be completed by April to facilitate the schedule for the World Design Survey.
Delivery instructions and deadline
Please upload all the data and e-documents (Microsoft Word or PDF format) pertaining to the Asia Design Survey in the website (www.asiadesignsurvey.org) made exclusively for the project.
As stated in the project schedule above, data relevant to the common indicators must be submitted by no later than March 31, 2010 in order to conduct comparison analysis among the data for each region. The Asia Design Survey Report is scheduled to be published around middle of April.
Website Operation
To improve the efficiency of the research efforts, an online website for the Asia Design Survey will be developed and operated for the duration of the project.
The research partners can share project related information via website. The partners can also access data pertaining to common indicators, exchange information gained through the research activities, and upload the collected data from each region to form an integrated data base. The data base information will be organized and edited to create a report at a later date.
In addition, the experience and know-how gained through the operation of the pilot website (www.asiadesignsurvey.org) will be applied towards the development of the official website for the World Design Survey.
